The Year of the Lord's Favor
Happy New Year!!
Hooray for New Beginnings! I hope you are enjoying your first morning of 2011! The Lord has blessed me this morning with a quiet, foggy morning, the house all to myself - quiet, still except for a few critters who wanted to be fed earlier than I wanted to rouse - and time in my favorite quiet time spot - my cozy orange chair, covered with a few flannel throes and a good hot cup of coffee as I enjoy the Word and time in prayer. A good slow start... (plus, my house is on the cleaner side of things as I spend some time taking care of these earthly belonging - it makes my heart happy to wake to clean clear floors and empty laundry baskets).
I welcomed the New year with my two furkids... I actually fell asleep before 10 - I must have been really tired because I slept deep but then was roused by the firecrackers going off around the neighborhood - I flipped on the tv just as the countdown started: it was exactly 11:59:45... I hugged Sasha, who desperately wanted to be lap dog with all the POPS! and BOMBS going off - I had to remind her she was really a 60 lb. dog and it was her job to protect me - and tossled Kitty who was snoring contently on the couch - she was like, "what's all that racket!?". I went back to bed.... hooray. Thanks for the text guys...
New Year's Resolution Reveal!
1. Spend More Time with Christ. Somehow... my schedule got really sloshy last year... and I missed Him and our times of quiet together.
2. Sign up with the Siesta Scripture Memory Team!! My first verse is Luke 4:18-19:
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
This verse is HUGE for me - as I prayed for my first verse to memorize, I knew this was it a week or so ago as I was reading through Luke. Then this morning, I was even more assured!! He has called us to Walk by Faith, Not by Sight. My prayer for 2011 is that I would live in Love and Walk by Faith. THIS verse... challenges ME to remember His Anointing is ON ME. He has called me to proclaim His Good News, He has given ME New Eyes to see, He has Set the oppressed Free... He has given ME Freedom to Live - His Favor is Mine! Mine! Do It Lord Jesus!!
3. I want to run a half marathon this year. Oh my goodness... I have not been running in more than two years!!! I have been spinning... but time to get those running shoes on and hit the pavement. LET's DO IT!!
4. Less and Less sugar... I already ate half of an oatmeal raison cookie this morning. Time to give them away. Anyone?
