Contra Dancing

Image
Several of you have inquired, "what is contra dancing?" I can refer to you the wikipedia explanation of  Contra Dancing .   It is a whole lot of fun - last night I felt excited as a little girl as the caller started organizing us and the band started tuning up their strings. It was a full night as the band (i found out later) was quite a popular one.  I would say there was a crowd numbering around 300??   It was packed...  it made the do-si-do's and the "swing your partner" a little more bumpy and touchy than normal. One of the first things to acquaint yourself with upon arriving at a contra dance is the calls.  There are a few words that may be new to your vocabulary, like: "allemande" and "hey for four" (still not quite sure what that one means) and "gypsy"... the beginner's practice is very beneficial to attend!  You get to see you are not the only one who may not know your left from your right. :-)  Here are a list of ste

Sundry Things

So Summer Begins. About an hour ago I opened my front door and it felt like a furnace outside.  It's hot. I am very thankful for air conditioning.  This summer I won't be sailing two days a week as I did two summers ago.  I won't be catching every random babysitting opportunity.  I won't be sweating under a canopy at the Sand Hills Farmers Market selling beautiful veggies and fruit.  I won't be renovating anything in my house, no summer projects this year. This summer I will be... ... working in an office, being part of a healing process to young and old, men and women, people of all sorts.  It fills me with a deep level of satisfaction.  I come home quite tired, ready to embrace an evening on my couch and a hot meal.  I totally embrace that when it happens! ... involved in other's lives, with a desire to spur them on in Christ Jesus. What a JOY... ...enjoying Sunday afternoons on the sail boat, contra dancing, baking, reading, resting, and watching mo

Isaiah 58:13-14

Isaiah 58:13-14 You must  observe the Sabbath rather than doing anything you please on my holy day. You must look forward to the Sabbath and treat the Lord’s holy day with respect. You must treat it with respect by refraining from your normal activities, and by refraining from your selfish pursuits and from making business deals. Then you will find joy in your relationship to the Lord, and I will give you great prosperity, and cause crops to grow on the land I gave to your ancestor Jacob.” Know for certain that the Lord has spoken.

One Thing I Did This Weekend

Image
My close neighbors had a little baby girl last Saturday.  I thought I would put a bun in the oven for them to enjoy while they enjoyed their New Bun. So...  I started with some whole grains.... Ground the grain in my mill...  Put some basic ingredients in my universal mixer... One scoop at a time.... Sprinkled my cutting board with flour.... Got it just the right consistency.... rolled it, patted it... .... into a nice little raw bun... Let them rise for about 45 minutes... Put them in the oven for 22 minutes... Hand delivered a hot, steamy fresh loaf of bread to the Bun Makers up the road... came home and ate almost a whole mini-bun myself. Yum. Yeah, that is what I did Friday Night between watching four episodes of 24. It was great. :-) Your Domestic Diva, checkin' out.

Hold Me Because it is Saturday. Because I feel Great. Because this is totally a fun song: one you gotta roll the windows down, open the sunroof, and sing loud along with as you drive down the road... hair blow'in so it gets all knotty... oh. so. fun. Because... this is so perfectly full of Joy of the Love from The Lord to You. To Me. and I want to Love Him back with as much Joy and Passion as He loves me... Because. Just cuz' :-) Have a Happy Saturday!!!
