Adventures In New England

I was recently blessed with a trip up to New England to celebrate completing my M.A.  My dear friends, Tracy and Jamison, treated me to a trip so we could all be together again.  We had a wonderful time together and only wish we could have squeezed in a few more things.  We spent most of our time in Connecticut ("Connect - I - Cut" ~Thanks Tracy!), of which the capital is Hartford (a fact I will never forget thanks to my seventh grade social studies teacher).   Everytime we said "Hartford," I started quoting, "In Hartford hurricanes hardly ever happen..." in an ever-so-british accent.  (Name that movie!)   We also had a little surprise thrown in from sweet Tracy: one night in Newport, RI.  Everywhere we went I was in awe of the deep luscious foliage and the brilliant hues of the waters.  Add to that, sailing related paraphernalia was everywhere, my sailing soft spot was itching something fierce.

Here are a few moments I captured along the way.  Unfortunately, and literally at the last minute, I decided to leave my good camera, which is a little big and bulky, at home.  I lost count how many times I said, "what was I thinking to leave my camera behind!?"  Apparently waking at 4:30AM may have had something to do with it.  Thankfully, my camera phone did a decent job more or less...  Enjoy!

Apparently I don't know how to load pictures because this is the last day before I came home.  We went to the beach and it was gorgeous, gorgesous.. I only stuck my tiny toes in as the water was freezing and it was not that hot.  But I could sit on this beach everyday and soak in the blue-green hues and take pictures of sailboats to my heart's content...

One of the highlights of my trip.  Seriously, this is one reason I may move to Connecticut.  It makes my mouth water just looking at it...
Our first night in New England: Newport, RI!  View from our hotel!!
One of the mansions on our "Cliff Walk" -- I really liked the tree!
The infamous Cliff Walk... next time I plan on doing the whole thing!  I especially was looking forward to this hike, but it was our second official day, Jamison and I were beat for various reasons, we did not dress for a hike, nor pack enough water.  Thus we were sorely unprepared for such an endeavor.  Reason number one thousand eleven to return someday soon!
A weekend with us girls will always include a delicious home-cooked meal!
The remainder of our time was spent in Lebanon, Connecticut, Tracy's hometown.  New England in the summer is breathtaking: this is Tracy's sister's yard, just up the hill from where T lives.
They had a beautiful garden of squash, peppers, tomatoes, and I forget what else but it was the perfect size, and so tidy!
First night's dessert: Of course, we had dessert every night.  :-)
Needless to say, I probably gained a few lbs on our trip.
The End.
